1. Information Collection
We collect personal data to verify your identity and provide secure community services. The type of data collected depends on your interaction with the platform:
Resident Registration: We collect your Name, Email, Phone Number, and House Address. You may optionally provide a Profile Picture to assist security personnel in visual identification.
Household & Assets: To manage estate access, you may register Dependencies (family or staff) and Vehicle Information (Plate numbers and models). By providing dependency data, you confirm you have obtained the necessary consent.
Security & Guards: We collect Guard names, employee IDs, and real-time GPS location data during active patrol shifts for accountability.
2. Use of Data
Your data is used to provide the core services of the Gatex platform, including:
- Visitor Verification: Using resident and visitor data to generate and verify secure QR access codes.
- Security Management: Identifying registered vehicles and household members at entry/exit points.
- Emergency Response: Sharing your real-time location with estate security only when an SOS alert is activated.
- Payment Security: Financial transactions are handled by PCI-compliant providers like Paystack; we do not store full card details.
3. Device Permissions (Required for Functionality)
Contacts Access: Gatex requests access to your contact list to allow you to seamlessly select and invite guests. This permission is used strictly to pre-fill visitor details for QR pass generation; we do not upload or store your entire contact list on our servers.
Camera Access: Gatex requires access to your device camera to scan visitor QR codes for entry/exit verification and to allow users to capture profile photos. We do not access your camera in the background.
Location Data:
- Residents: Location is only accessed during an active SOS trigger.
- Security Personnel: Location is tracked in the background during active duty shifts to ensure estate patrol coverage.
4. Data Sharing & Transparency
We do not sell your data. We share information only with authorized partners necessary for estate operations:
- Utility Providers: Sharing necessary contact info with partners like VTPass for electricity and airtime vending.
- Estate Administration: Providing admins with visitor logs, resident verification status, and security performance reports.
- Payment Processors: Securely transmitting transaction data to Paystack for wallet funding.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
You may request account deletion via the app "Profile" section. Personal profiles are purged within 30 days. Security logs (visitor history) are retained for 12-24 months per estate policy, and financial records are archived for 7 years as required by law.
